Four generations, old olive trees and Empeltre from Bajo Aragón – olive oil with a clear origin and a character of its own.

Molino Alfonso has produced olive oil in Belchite since 1907. Empeltre is the house’s defining variety – smooth, aromatic and showing notes of ripe fruit, almond and apple – alongside fresher Arbequina and distinctive early-harvest oils.

From Belchite since 1907

Molino Alfonso was founded in Belchite, in the province of Zaragoza, in 1907 and is today run by the fourth generation. The olive trees grow in the dry landscape of Bajo Aragón, where Empeltre has formed part of local olive cultivation for generations.

Empeltre as the house signature

Empeltre produces a rounded, harmonious oil with ripe fruit, almond and apple and only restrained bitterness. It is clearly different from Arbequina, which offers a fresher, greener profile with notes including tomato and freshly cut grass.

The contrast between the varieties makes it possible to choose the oil according to the dish rather than simply by intensity.

Early harvest and different expressions

Molino Alfonso produces both classic extra virgin olive oils and first-harvest oils, where the olives are picked earlier to achieve greater freshness, aroma and intensity.

The range includes Empeltre, Arbequina and coupage, as well as Empeltre oils with ingredients including black truffle, chilli, garlic, basil and herbs.

A clear flavour identity

Molino Alfonso stands out because the oils do not taste alike. Empeltre is smooth and rounded, Arbequina fresher and greener, while the early-harvest oils bring greater intensity.

This makes the range particularly useful when the oil is chosen as part of the dish – not simply as a cooking fat.
