Albariño – rethought for a new generation

Castrobrey explores what happens when Albariño and native varieties are approached with a different mindset—where vineyard work, regeneration, and winemaking evolve together. The result is a range that feels fresh, expressive, and moving forward, with wines you naturally return to.

In Ribeira do Ulla, within D.O. Rías Baixas, Castrobrey works in a part of Galicia where Albariño shows a different side—less driven by the coast, with more structure and definition shaped by inland conditions.

Since 1982, now in its third generation, the project has evolved from a traditional vineyard focus into a more open way of working, where new thinking grows out of experience rather than replacing it.

The vineyards are managed using regenerative principles, improving soil life and biodiversity to create more expressive fruit and a stronger link between place and wine.

In the cellar, there is no fixed formula. Steel, oak, amphora, and alternative vessels are used depending on the parcel, allowing each wine to take its own direction instead of following one defined style.

The result is not one Albariño style, but several:

  • Fresh and direct wines with energy and clarity
  • More textured expressions with movement and depth
  • Parcel‑driven wines that expand expectations

Designed for modern wine lists and evolving selections, where wines need to feel both grounded and new.
